What's included

From bare concrete to living space

Moisture first

We check for water and humidity before anything is closed in. A finished basement over a wet slab is the most expensive mistake in remodeling.

Framing & insulation

Insulated exterior walls and a proper vapor strategy so the room stays warm and dry through a Massachusetts winter.

Egress windows

Code-sized escape windows for any bedroom — and real daylight for every room that gets one.

Electrical & lighting

Recessed lighting, outlets, and smoke and CO detection, installed by a licensed electrician under permit.

Bathrooms & wet bars

Plumbing by a licensed Massachusetts plumber, coordinated inside the same schedule and contract.

Flooring & finish

Basement-rated flooring, drywall, doors, trim and paint — the finish carpentry is ours.

How it works

Four steps, one price

  1. Site visit. We measure, check moisture, ceiling height and exits, and talk through how you want to use the space.
  2. Written fixed price. An itemized proposal and schedule. The contract price is the price.
  3. Permits. We file with your town and schedule every inspection.
  4. Build and walk-through. Framing to final paint, then a walk-through before we call it done.
Common questions

Basement finishing FAQ

Do I need a permit to finish a basement in Massachusetts?

Yes. Finishing a basement into living space needs a building permit from your town, and usually separate electrical and plumbing permits. Work is inspected under the Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR). We pull the building permit and schedule every inspection.

Does a finished basement need an egress window?

Any room used for sleeping must have an emergency escape opening — an egress window or door — sized to code. A basement used only as a family room or gym may not need one, but adding one now keeps the option open and adds natural light. We confirm the requirement with your building department before design.

How long does a basement finishing project take?

Most basement projects take several weeks from permit approval to final inspection, depending on size, bathrooms and egress work. You get a written schedule with the fixed-price contract before work starts.

Can you add a bathroom in the basement?

Yes. Bathroom plumbing is done by a licensed Massachusetts plumber under the plumbing permit, and we coordinate it inside the same project and schedule.

Is winter a good time to finish a basement?

It is one of the best. The work is all indoors, so freezing weather does not stop it, and contractors' winter calendars open up while outdoor work is paused.
